Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased announce the nominees for the PFA A-League Player of the Month for February.

Including A-League rounds 16 to 19, the six nominees were selected by an awards committee, which is made up of former Socceroos and leading figures in the Australian football media.

In contention to join the likes of Nathan Burns and Andy Keogh, the nominees for the PFA A-League Player of the Month for February are:

  • Marc Janko, Sydney FC;
  • Milos Dimitrijevic, Sydney FC;
  • Kosta Barbarouses, Melbourne Victory;
  • Aaron Mooy, Melbourne City;
  • Danny Vukovic, Perth Glory; and
  • Jean Carlos Solorzano, Brisbane Roar.

Having scored six goals in four games during February, Janko’s selection comes as little surprise with the Austrian in outstanding form for the Sky Blues.

His fellow Sky Blues star Dimitrijevic’s nomination is the second time this season the midfielder has been shortlisted for the player of the month award.

Instrumental for Melbourne City, Mooy ‘s nomination comes after the midfielder once again starred for the club in their 3-1 win over Adelaide United.

Set to equal Matt Thompson’s A-League appearance record this weekend, Vukovic’s selection comes on the back of his truly stellar form, which has played a key part in the table topping Glory’s season.

Having been named as the inaugural Player of the Month, February saw Barbarouses hit the back of the net on three occasion as the forward continued to torment A-League defenders.

Equaling Barbarouses’s strike rate in February, Solorzano was on target three times for the Roar, with the Costa Rican taking his season’s tally of goals to six.

PFA President Matt McKay paid tribute to the nominees and said they were once again a testament to the quality of the A-League.

“Since the introduction of this award it has always been extremely difficult to pick a winner and this month is no different, with all six players having been outstanding,” said the Socceroo.

“Throughout February these players have all played an enormous part for their clubs and have been responsible for some truly outstanding moments of quality and class.”
