Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce the shortlisted midfielders and forwards for the PFA A-League Team of the Decade.

The 20 shortlisted players polled the highest following a vote of A-League players past and present, with the final team to be announced on Monday, April 27 at the Australian National Maritime Museum.

The midfielders shortlisted for the PFA A-League Team of the Decade:

  • Thomas Broich;
  • Carlos Hernandez;
  • Fred;
  • Shinji Ono;
  • Matt McKay;
  • Marcelo Carrusca;
  • Steve Corica;
  • Mark Milligan;
  • Marcos Flores; and
  • Mile Jedinak.

The forwards shortlisted for the PFA A-League Team of the Decade:

  • Archie Thompson;
  • Besart Berisha;
  • Joel Griffiths;
  • Paul Ifill;
  • Shane Smeltz;
  • Alex Brosque;
  • Alessandro Del Piero;
  • Robbie Kruse;
  • Sergio van Dijk; and
  • Kosta Barbarouses.

PFA Vice President Ante Covic hailed the shortlisted players and said they highlighted the quality of players that have called the A-League home.

“Throughout the past ten seasons of the competition we have been fortunate to have had some truly world class players plying their trade in Australia,” said Covic.

“Amongst the list we have players that have played and excelled at the very highest levels of the game and their contribution to the A-League has been immense.”

The PFA A-League Team of the Decade is proudly supported by LUCRF Super, NSR Australia, Travellers Choice and the Australian National Maritime Museum.
