Professional Footballers Australia (PFA), with the support of LUCRF Super, is pleased to announce Palermo’s Mark Bresciano and Nuremberg’s Dario Vidosic as the PFA’s Footballer and Young Footballer of the month of December, respectively.
The nominations were made by the PFA Awards Committee based on performances so far this season for club and/or country.
Socceroo star Bresciano has been in excellent form for his Serie A club Palermo in 2009/2010, scoring 1 goal in 14 appearances. The midfielder’s strike came on one of Italy’s biggest stages and saw his club beat Serie A giants AC Milan at the San Siro. Bresciano has also made 2 appearances for the Socceroos and is undoubtedly one of Australia’s key players for the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals.
Emerging Socceroo star Vidosic has also produced some outstanding performances for both his club and country. The 22 year old made 10 appearances in the Bundesliga for Nuremberg before being loaned to Bundesliga 2 club MSV Duisburg earlier this week where he will play until the end of the season. On the international stage, Vidosic has made 3 appearances for the Socceroos as an attacking midfielder and made his first start in the green and gold against Kuwait in the important Asian Cup qualifier earlier this month.
Bresciano and Vidosic are the fifth players to win the monthly awards and become likely nominations for the PFA Footballer of the Year Awards to be presented at the Australian Football Awards to be held in Melbourne on 22 May 2010 in conjunction with Football Federation Australia. The monthly nominations to date are:
