The PFA Delegates’ Committees fulfil an important role in the two way communication process between players in the workplace and PFA staff.Delegates assist with informing their fellow players of the latest updates from the PFA and contact the PFA on behalf of their playing group or an individual player when any issues arise.
The Rules of the PFA ensure that representation is made to all of our members through our delegates by seeking the Delegates’ Committee approval for any significant agreement entered into on our members’ behalf.
PFA Rule 17.4 sets this obligation out in detail:
Without limiting the duties and powers of the PFA Executive under these Rules including under Rule 11(g), the PFA Executive must:
(a) establish, maintain and obtain the approval of the National Team Committee for the Socceroos before entering into a Collective Agreement…binding on Footballers employed to play for the Socceroos; and
(b) establish, maintain and obtain the approval of the League Committee for the A-League before entering into a Collective Agreement… binding on Footballers employed to play in the A-League.
