The PFA is committed to providing policy leadership to influence and shape the future of Australian football - and footballers’ careers – through industry-leading research and analysis. The PFA’s research and reports continue to entrench the organisation’s position as thought leaders in Australian football, which provides the players a powerful and credible voice.

2021/22 A-League Women's Report

The A-League Women’s annual report was published in July, following the APL’s announcement that the 2022/23 campaign would be expanded to 12 teams. The report outlined:

  • record investment in player payments;
  • developing players received the majority of match minutes;
  • players remain committed to building sustainable careers in Australia; and
  • the A-League Women continues to play a critical role in developing National Team players.

2021/22 A-League Men Report

The annual A-League Men Report provided an overview of the first season under a new five-year collective bargaining agreement, with key findings including:

  • The A-League Men leads Asian rivals in providing opportunities for U21 players;
  • The A-League Men is the most competitively balanced league in the Asian Football Confederation;
  • Club investment has returned to pre-pandemic levels; and
  • Player churn continues to trend downwards following the establishment of a five-year collective bargaining agreement.

A-Leagues CBA Fact Sheets

The A-Leagues Player Facts Book set out the rights and responsibilities of players in the A-Leagues, as well as providing an overview of key contacts and support services available to members of the PFA, helping equip members with an understanding of the CBA.

Brand and Communications

The PFA continues to utilise a range of platforms and channels to communicate with its members and amplify its work with the broader public. The PFA continues to increase its regular communication and digital output to ensure its membership and the broader football public are engaged, informed and updated on key aspects of PFA work and policy.
