Progress Sees Matildas Commit to China Tour

Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has confirmed that the Matildas upcoming camp and tour of China will go ahead after an interim deal was accepted by the players.

PFA Chief Executive Adam Vivian said the players agreed to undertake the tour following significant progress in the negotiations but cautioned that there was yet to be deal reached on a ‘whole of game’ collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

“The Matildas decision to undertake the tour is a gesture of good faith and is an acknowledgement of the progress that has been made,” said Vivian.

“However, an agreement on a CBA to cover all Matildas, Socceroos and A-League players has not yet been reached.

“There will be no agreement until all our members have been afforded the opportunity to have their say on the terms on offer.

“The PFA will continue to liaise with its members, however media statements suggesting that a deal is imminent are not helpful or accurate and will only delay the process.”
