Having racked up 14 goals between them for December, Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce the nominees for the PFA Footballer of the Month.

Taking into account rounds nine to 11, the five nominees were selected by an awards committee made up of former Socceroos and leading figures in the Australian football media.

The nominees include:

  • Mark Bridge, Western Sydney Wanderers;
  • Bruno Fornaroli, Melbourne City;
  • Jamie Maclaren, Brisbane Roar;
  • Aaron Mooy, Melbourne City; and
  • Marcelo Carrusca, Adelaide United.

Having scored seven goals between them, Melbourne City duo Fornaroli and Mooy were outstanding during December, with Mooy vying to become the first player to win the award back-to-back.

On target three times during the Wanderers impressive December, Bridge has played an integral part in the club’s table topping form.

Currently sitting third on the leading scorers chart, the Roar’s Maclaren was on the score sheet on three occasions during December helping the club to three wins.

Scoring twice and starring as the Reds moved up the table, Carrusca has continued to show his outstanding quality on the ball and eye for goal.

PFA President Matt McKay said the five nominees had been central to what had been a high quality month on the pitch.

“These players have lit up the A-League and are deserving of this recognition,” said McKay.

“The amount of goals they have scored highlights their quality but their performances have been equally outstanding.”
