Professional Footballers Australia (the PFA) will celebrate ten years of partnership with Australian industry superannuation fund LUCRF Super by extending its partnership into 2020.

LUCRF Super has been the PFA’s major partner since 2009, playing a critical role in delivering superannuation and financial literacy education to hundreds of professional players and supporting the positive financial health of Australia’s footballers.

Through the partnership, LUCRF Super delivers financial literacy workshops along with training and development initiatives for all PFA members across the Socceroos, Matildas, A-League, W-League and Y-League.

LUCRF Super also provides one-on-one personalised financial advice to players, assists the PFA’s legal department in tracking super payments to players and guarantees club compliance. The fund is also the PFA’s major awards and events partner, sponsoring key PFA events including the Tobin Medal, Player Development Camp and Football History Conference.

PFA Chief Executive John Didulica said he was delighted that the PFA’s partnership with LUCRF Super would continue to positively impact players as a key component of the organisation’s player development program.

“I’m very proud that we can continue our long-standing partnership with LUCRF Super, and celebrate our tenth year,” Didulica said.

“The partnership is testament to our shared values in helping deliver positive outcomes for our shared membership. It ensures that our members have access to expert financial advice, enabling them to maximise their superannuation earnings and make informed financial decisions throughout their careers.

“Players also have access to the PFA Financial Care Program through LUCRF Super, allowing our members access to a variety of services to support them during their playing careers and beyond it.”

On behalf of the players, PFA President Alex Wilkinson expressed his appreciation that LUCRF Super will continue to provide Australian footballers with invaluable support.

“As a result of the partnership, hundreds of our footballers have accessed LUCRF Super’s resources and partnership benefits, including personalised financial advice which has helped players navigate complex financial decisions,” Wilkinson said.

LUCRF Super Chief Executive Officer Charlie Donnelly said he was proud to continue this exciting partnership:

“We are committed to ensuring that all working Australians have financial dignity now, and in retirement. Extending this partnership allows us to continue to advocate for, and provide a range of financial advice and education to players. The PFA, like LUCRF Super, is run only to benefit members. We want to make sure all our members are well informed and are making the right choices today to have the best retirement they can”.
