Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has announced a new partnership with Torrens University Australia (TUA) to drive the holistic development of Australia’s professional footballers.
Torrens University will provide tertiary education opportunities for footballers in Australia and those playing abroad through flexible and online study options, reduced tuition fees and a new scholarship program for selected members as the PFA’s Education Partner.
The partnership will provide reciprocal and integrated learning opportunities for Torrens University students, demonstrating the University’s commitment to connecting students with influential organisations in their chosen field of study.
PFA Co-Chief Executive Kathryn Gill said the new partnership demonstrated the PFA’s long-term commitment to ensuring the holistic development of players via continued learning.
“We’re delighted to welcome Torrens University to the PFA family; their approach to education provides us with the perfect partner to enable us to deliver high-level education opportunities to players throughout their careers.
“In the past five years we have experienced significant growth in players engaging in off-field development and players accessing education opportunities with over 650 education grants provided to our members.
“This partnership will help to drive further beneficial outcomes for our players who are increasingly discovering the benefits of complementing and balancing their professional careers with education.”
Torrens University offers courses across a range of fields including business, design, hospitality, technology, nursing and sports-specific courses including a sports management degree in partnership with the Real Madrid C.F. Graduate School.
Torrens University Chief Commercial Officer Jerome Casteigt said: “Torrens University is proud to be partnering with Professional Footballers Australia as the preferred education provider.
