Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) – in collaboration with RT Health – are offering an exclusive health insurance offer for members.

RT Health are offering a 5% discount on most levels of health insurance cover, along with a two and three month waiver on Extras-only waiting periods.

Members also receive six weeks free – instead of four weeks free – on Hospital and Extras if they sign up before December 9 2024. To receive this offer, current players must take out Silver Plus Assure + Top Extras to comply with A-Leagues contract requirements.

As part of the A-League Men and Women’s Standard Player Agreement, players must obtain and maintain top cover membership of a reputable private hospital and medical benefits scheme that includes in its cover hospital, medical, dental, physiotherapy, chiropractic and orthotics for the term and for the duration of any injury, illness or ailment sustained out of or in the course of the Player’s employment with the Club, and provide evidence to the Club on request.

If the Player has not done so, the players’ club is only obliged to cover the total amount of reasonable expenses that would have otherwise been incurred.

PFA Head of Player Relations Women, Erin Clout, said it was critical for players to secure top level health insurance cover.

“Each pre-season we remind our members that under their A-League contract they are to hold top level cover of a reputable private health provider.

“Without this, players can be held responsible for the costs of serious injury, which can cause significant financial and emotional stress. The partnership with RT Health provides our members peace of mind that they are not only meeting this requirement, but they are working with a provider with a long-standing history of supporting workers across Australia.

“We hope by building partnerships with likeminded companies such as RT Health, we can reduce the administrative burden of our members and keep their hard earned money in their back pockets.”
