• $20,000 pledged through the Footballers’ Trust for disaster relief
  • 100% of funds raised will go directly to affected communities
  • PFA will collaborate with local football bodies to support impacted clubs and leagues

Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has pledged to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and severe weather conditions in southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Through its charitable arm, Footballers’ Trust, the PFA has committed $20,000 in disaster relief funding, while current and former PFA members will be encouraged to donate to recovery efforts throughout this week.

The PFA will work closely with Football Queensland, Northern NSW Football, and disaster relief authorities to ensure funds raised will be directed to specific recovery efforts.

“The thoughts of all PFA members and staff are with the people of Queensland and Northern NSW,” PFA Chief Executive Beau Busch said.

“Like all Australians, we have seen the devastation caused in the past week and are committed to playing our part in helping communities rebuild.

“With community football about to commence across the region, we know that clubs, leagues, and member federations face enormous challenges restoring infrastructure and facilities.”
