Schwarzer 100

Mark Schwarzer started his international representation of Australia back at the 1993 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Canada.

His reliability and consistent performance in front of goal saw him become a permanent fixture for Australia and he celebrated his 100th cap as a Socceroo in this morning’s game against Lebanon.

Mark’s accomplishments on and off the field have been exceptional and he continues to be an inspiring role model to youth and fellow professional footballers.

Mark, who is fluent in German and Spanish, began his professional football career with Marconi and quickly established himself in the side at the tender age of 19. At age 21, Mark was signed by Dynamo Dresden in Germany.

After stints with Kaiserslautern and Bradford City, he established himself at English Premier League club Middlesbrough, and is now at Fulham FC.

He is a favourite of the fans and his peers and was voted the 2010 PFA Footballer of the Year by his fellow professionals.

Mark has always shown a genuine interest in the wellbeing of his fellow professionals, both on and off the field.

The PFA congratulates Mark Schwarzer on attaining his 100th cap as a Socceroo.
