PFA Life Member Alex Tobin has been inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Tobin, the holder of the record caps for the Socceroos, is currently Assistant Coach with the Central Coast Mariners. He has been inducted into the Hall of Champions, the highest category for players.
Tobin has 87 international appearances to his name and appeared in two World Cup qualifying campaigns. In an equally impressive club career, he made made 522 appearances in the domestic competition – a record that still stands today. He won three NSL league titles and two national cups with Adelaide City before plying his trade for Parramatta Power and ending his playing career at Northern Spirit.
Tobin, who served as PFA President from 1999 to 2004, has also been awarded a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia for his services to football as a player and through the PFA. He is also the winner of 2 Marston Medals for his best afield performances in the 1991/92 and 1993/4 NSL Grand Finals.

It is most fitting that Alex be bestowed with the honour of being inducted into the Hall of Champions in the Australian Football Hall of Fame alongside legends such as Johnny Warren and Joe Marston. His long term efforts with the PFA have also left a legacy that is now enjoyed by today’s professionals, both at home and around the world.”
