With the Olyroos squad for Beijing confirmed, the PFA is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with FFA on player payments for the Olympics. The PFA’s proposal was developed in consultation with members of the Olyroos squad and is designed to ensure that all players involved in the qualification campaign are recognised, as well as the final squad of 18 to 22 players selected for Beijing.
PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab said, “The PFA acknowledges the commitment of all the players involved in the qualification campaign, Australia’s first through Asia, and would like to specifically thank the players for their assistance and input in the development of this agreement.”
Under the agreement, match payments will be paid for all friendly, warm up and group matches beginning from March (the first matches after the 6 final Olympic qualifiers). In addition, players will be rewarded should the Olyroos advance beyond the Group Stage in Beijing.
The details of the agreement are as follows:

| Match Fees | $500 is payable to each player on the team list for each of the 12 preparatory matches (from Mexico in March to Korea in July). |
| $1000 is payable to the 22 players in the Olympic squad (18 team members and 4 alternates) for each of the 3 group stage matches and the 1/4 finals at the Olympics. The AOC Reward Payments will take over in semifinals and finals (see below). | |
| Allowance | A weekly allowance of $100 is payable to all players selected in the squad. |
| AOC Selection Payment | A one off AOC selection payment of $1000 is also payable to the 18 players selected in the Olympics squad. Should any of the 4 alternates be promoted because of injury, they will also be entitled to the additional payment of $1,000. |
| AOC Reward Payments | AOC Reward Payments are payable to all players who become part of the squad of 18 (i.e. original squad of 18 and any other player who becomes listed because of injury) as follows:
$20,000 – gold medal: $13,400 – silver medal; $10,000 – bronze medal; and $6,700 – 4th place. |
