One of the most significant features of modern professional football is the involvement of player representatives including FIFPro and the PFA in the resolution of player contract and transfer disputes.

Players are now entitled to arbitration based on the principle of parity, which means the body hearing the dispute is made up equally of football and player representatives.  The Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia recently published two important articles on Australia’s experience, both at home and at FIFA.  The articles are now available in the Football Policy section of www.pfa.net.au.
