Brisbane Roar star Katrina Gorry has today been named as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) W-League Player of the Month for December.

Edging out the likes of Ashleigh Sykes and Kim Little to win the award, the Matildas midfielder enjoyed a stellar December where she played a starring role in the club’s semi-final push.

The 2013/14 PFA Women’s Footballer of the Year said she was honoured to have been voted by the players as the PFA W-League Player of the Month.

“Recognition from your fellow players is the best recognition you can receive and I’m very proud to have been voted as the player of the month,” said Gorry.

“I would like to thank my teammates who have made this award possible and everyone who voted for me – it means a lot.”

PFA Executive Committee Member Lydia Williams paid tribute to Gorry.

“Throughout the season Katrina has been in great form, no more so than during December,” said Williams.

“She is a thoroughly deserving winner and it is great to see her in such great form with important Olympic qualifiers coming up for the Matildas.”
