Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mile Jedinak to the PFA Executive Committee.

The Socceroos Captain was voted onto the Executive Committee at Monday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), filling the vacancy left following the decision of Travis Dodd not to re-nominate, instead focusing on his recovery from a serious knee injury.

With the Crystal Palace skipper set to assume his position with immediate effect Jedinak joins the likes of Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell, John Aloisi, Alex Tobin, Vince Grella and Craig Foster as having served on the PFA Executive Committee.

Having been a member of the PFA Socceroos Delegates Committee and heavily involved in preparations for the upcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations Jedinak said he was delighted by his appointment.

“It’s an honor to the have the trust of the players to fulfill such an important role,” said Jedinak. “To have the chance to follow in the footsteps of former Executives such as Alex Tobin and Vince Grella is something I’m truly honored by, and I will do everything possible to ensure I carry on the work they have done in pursuing the interests of the game and the players.

“Throughout my career both at home and abroad and with club and country I have experienced both the highs and the lows that come with a career as a professional footballer. This along with the experience I have gained from working with the PFA will allow me to play my role in ensuring the PFA continues its long tradition of representing the interests of all its members.”

PFA Chief Executive Adam Vivian hailed the appointment and said Jedinak would further enhance the extensive experience and knowledge of the Executive Committee.

“Mile’s achievements on the pitch are outstanding by any ones standards but what he brings off the pitch is equally so,” said Vivian. “Throughout his time with the National Team and with his clubs, both in the A-League and abroad, he has repeatedly shown himself to be someone who cares deeply about his fellow players and the game.

“With negotiations set to begin imminently on new CBAs for the Socceroos, Matildas and A-League, Mile will play an key role in the players’ pursuit of a whole of game agreement that builds a true partnership between all of the games stakeholders.

“Finally I would like to pay tribute to Travis Dodd for his outstanding contribution to both the players and the game during the his term on the PFA Executive. Travis’s commitment to his fellow professionals has been truly outstanding and I would like to wish him all the very best as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.”
