The outstanding defenders plying their trade in the A-League are once again highlighted as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) announces the defender nominees for the 2015/16 PFA  A-League Team of the Season.

Dominated by A-League Finals Series participants Melbourne Victory, Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers, the eight nominees polled the highest number of votes by the PFA’s A-League members.

Having been named in the PFA A-League Team of the Season after an outstanding 2012/13 season Western Sydney Wanderers captain Nikolai Topor-Stanley said he was delighted to be be named amongst the nominees.

“The standard of the competition has never been higher and there are some truly outstanding defenders playing in the league this season,” said Topor-Stanley. “To be in the running to be included in the team and to be recognised by my fellow professionals is a huge honour.

“I would also like to congratulate my fellow nominees.”

The PFA A-League Team of the Season midfielder nominees will be announced tomorrow at 11am.
