The PFA wishes Socceroos and Queensland Roar defender Craig Moore a speedy and complete recovery after it was announced this week that he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

After undergoing surgery in Brisbane this week, Craig has been ruled out of the upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifier against Bahrain on 19 November.

Encouragingly however, the medical prognosis has been positive and it is expected that Craig should be able to make a swift recovery

PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab said, “This has been a shock to the whole football community. However, Craig is a tough character and possesses a high level of fitness. These qualities coupled with the positive medical prognosis, bode well for his road to recovery.”

“The PFA wishes Craig all the best for a complete and speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with him, his wife and two young children. We look forward to his return to full fitness and being back in action for both club and country.”

PFA Executive and Queensland Roar team mate Liam Reddy said, “The players and the club are in full support of Craig in this battle. He is a strong character on and off the field.”

“I am certain he will do his best to beat this condition. Our thoughts are with him and his family.”
