MELBOURNE: Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has today announced the 2017 PFA Player Agents’ Conference.

Proudly supported by the Gow-Gates Group, specialists in advising businesses and individuals on how to mitigate and transfer risk, the conference will be held in Melbourne on April 27.

Hosted in partnership with the Australian Football Agents’ Association (AFAA), the conference aims to bring together those charged with advising the current and next generation of footballers.

With the industry continuing to change and evolve at a rapid pace, attendees to the conference will have access to unique and valuable information, including:

  • PFA research on the career paths of Australian footballers;
  • the economics and framework of the Asian football market;
  • the Collective Bargaining Agreement, A-League Regulations and international transfers of players;
  • the PFA’s vision for women’s football; and
  • a workshop with A-League Football Directors.

PFA Chief Executive John Didulica said the conference represented an opportunity for the football network comprising of agents, players, professional clubs and governing bodies to come together and further professionalise the industry.

“The decision-making of players at all ages influences the quality of the A-League, W-League and the strength of our national teams,” said Didulica. “It is fundamental that those involved in influencing these decisions are aware of, and aligned to, the sport’s objectives.

“From the perspective of the players, the enhanced training and development of agents in a complex industry is of great benefit, so it is a step forward if we can bring together those agents and other professionals keen to contribute to the sport.

“The information available will be of use to anybody working or interested in the business of football. The industry moves so quickly, so it is important to have access to critical information.”
