Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) today welcomed the long awaited decision of Football Federation Australia (FFA) to commit to North Queensland Fury’s participation in the A-League in 2010/2011, and commended the community of North Queensland for rallying behind the club.
“The last few weeks have been a very difficult time for the club and, in particular, the players and their families,” PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab said.  “Throughout, the players have been most impressive in their commitment to the club, each other and the football community of North Queensland.  This commitment saw the team achieve some outstanding results on the field in 2009/2010, despite a terrible injury toll.”

The immediate priority for FFA and the PFA is to work through the contractual arrangements for the players.

“The players are, of course, the club’s number one asset,” Schwab said.
