Professional Footballers Australia’s (PFA) Chief Executive, Brendan Schwab, today welcomed the decision of Football Federation Australia (FFA) to provide short term assistance to Newcastle.
The assistance will enable the club and the players to honor the contracts as a long term solution is developed in the next two weeks.
“I meet with the players today.  The players are united around each other and share the common cause to support the club.  However, like all workers they have bills to pay and it is imperative that a long term solution is reached in the next fortnight.
The PFA believes there must be two fundamental conditions of any solutions. First, Newcastle must be represented in the A-League.  Second, all player contract must be covered in full,” Schwab added.
