Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) are delighted to announce that Zenon Caravella from Gold Coast United has won the PFA PwC Business Scholarship 2010 with his business “Red, White and Bubbles”.
“Red, White and Bubbles” targets everyday wine consumers and offers home delivered boutique wines at competitive prices. Zenon’s business will deliver award winning and hard to find estate wines into Australian households.
The PFA PwC Business Scholarship is awarded to a PFA member who is serious about starting a business, or has an existing business and is ready to take it to the next level. The successful footballer receives world class consultancy services with a dedicated PwC Management team to the value of $20,000.
PwC Partner Manoj Santiago is delighted to again be able to assist professional footballers with their post football ambitions and to help turn plans and dreams into a reality.
“I was taken by the unique nature of Zenon’s business concept. It is difficult to create a wine start up business however Zenon has really hit on an idea we think can work. I look forward to working with Zenon and bringing “Red, White and Bubbles” to life”.
Zenon will attend a face to face meeting to initiate his business plans, followed by quarterly meetings to discuss business performance and operations.
PFA Chief Executive Brendan Schwab added that “Red, White and Bubbles” is a fantastic example of a business which provides Zenon with balance during his football career. The on-line nature of the business and the time required to keep it developing will fit comfortably with his football commitments to Gold Coast United”.
PwC have also volunteered to assist Michael Ferrante with a face to face meeting to help Michael establish his consultancy business. Michael is at a crucial stage of his career as he transitions into his post football career and the PFA is pleased this program is able to provide him with additional support.
The PFA was thrilled to receive a number of applications from members for the PFA PwC Business Scholarship this year with applications covering businesses in the areas of sporting goods, junior coaching, cafe and 6 star energy rating consultancy.
