Football has often played a central role in the lives of migrants and refugees who have found a new home in Australia.

This June, the PFA has recognised the significant contribution of several refugees who have made a mark on the sport during Refugee Week 2020.

Refugee Week is Australia’s peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.

On the organisation’s social media accounts, the PFA has helped to share the story of Melbourne Victory’s Elvis Kamsoba, Urawa Red Diamond’s Thomas Deng and FC Midtjylland’s Awer Mabil, helping to elevate their profiles among Australia’s football community.
