Professional Footballers Australia (the PFA) welcomes the announcement of Football Federation Australia (FFA)’s new broadcast deal with Fox Sports Australia (Fox Sports).
The deal, announced on Friday evening, ensures the remaining fixtures of the 2019/20 A-League campaign and the 2020/21 season will be broadcast on Fox Sports.
FFA and Fox Sports confirmed that the W-League 2020/21 season will also form part of the package whilst the Matildas and Socceroos matches will be retained and broadcast by Fox Sports until July 2021.
PFA Chief Executive John Didulica said:
“As a collective, the players’ clear and singular objective over the past three months has been to ensure the resumption of the A-League,” Didulica said.
“The leadership and unprecedented commitment of the players to safeguard the sport’s future through this challenging period leaves no doubt as to their fundamental mission to see every aspect of football across Australia not only survive – but flourish.
“With the short-term economic future of the A-League now preserved, the players are looking forward to working as partners with both FFA and the club owners to increase standards and make the A-League and W-League the brilliant spectacle that they have already shown they can be.”
