The outstanding form of Marianna Tabain has been recognised, with the Melbourne City forward named as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) W-League Player of the Month for October.

Edging out fellow nominees Tameka Butt, Leena Khamis and Teresa Polias, the forward was selected as the winner following a vote of W-League players.

Having scored three goals in the opening three matches and played a starring role in City’s unbeaten start, Tabain said she was thrilled with the recognition of her peers.

“I’m really proud to have been voted as the PFA W-League Player of the Month,” said Tabain.

“Being voted by the players makes the award very special. It has been a great start to the season for us and we are determined to keep it going.

“I would like to thank my teammates, who have been brilliant to play with, and everyone at the club for their support.”

PFA Chief Executive Adam Vivian paid tribute to Tabain.

“Marianna has been outstanding in the opening rounds of the season and thoroughly deserves this recognition,” said Vivian.

“I would like to congratulate all the nominees, who have contributed to what has been a fantastic start to the W-League season.”
