Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets players battling for position

Sunday’s 3rd A-League Grand Final will, come what may, be a career highlight for 28 professional footballers who will have the honour of playing on the game’s biggest domestic stage. The PFA congratulates all players on their achievement and wishes them the very best for what is the A-League’s first “local derby” Grand Final.

The Grand Final should be a tightly contested affair, with both teams finishing on equal points at the end of the regular season and the Mariners just pipping the Jets to the Minor Premiership on goal difference. Sunday will be the 6th time Central Coast and Newcastle have met this season, with the Jets winning two encounters, the Mariners winning once and the other two games ending in draws.

Both teams have already qualified for the Asian Champions League, while this is Central Coast’s second and the Jets’ first appearance in the Grand Final.
