Professional Footballers Australia (the PFA) has today unveiled the 24 nominees for the 2025 Austraffic PFA Footballer of the Year Awards — the prestigious, player-voted annual honours that celebrate the best in Australian football.
Proudly supported by Austraffic, the awards recognise excellence across four categories: Women’s Footballer of the Year, Men’s Footballer of the Year, Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, and the Young Men’s Footballer of the Year (Harry Kewell Medal).
The nominees were selected based on performances between July 2024 and June 2025 in both the A-Leagues and international competitions.
PFA Chief Executive Beau Busch congratulated the nominees, who represent a diverse mix of talent from the A-Leagues, the English Women’s Super League, the Scottish Premiership, the German Bundesliga, and Australia’s national teams.
“The 2025 nominees reflect the depth and quality of Australian football talent — both at home and abroad,” Busch said.
“These players have not only delivered outstanding performances on the pitch but have also continued to inspire the next generation through their professionalism and passion for the game.
“We look forward to celebrating the winners later this year and thank our long-standing partner Austraffic for their continued support of the players and the game.”
The nominees were selected by an expert panel of former players and media representatives, with the final winners to be determined by a vote of PFA members.
Last year’s winners included Matildas stars Steph Catley and Mary Fowler, Socceroo Jackson Irvine, and New Zealand goalkeeper Alex Paulsen.
