Adelaide United captain Craig Goodwin has been voted by his peers as the Austraffic PFA Player of the Month for April.

Goodwin edged out Central Coast Mariners’ Jason Cummings and Melbourne Victory’s Marco Rojas for the player-voted award after helping lead the Reds to a fourth-placed finish during the A-League Men regular season.

Adelaide United shored up their place in the A-League’s top six in April in large part thanks to the impact of Goodwin.

With four wins in five matches, Goodwin delivered two goals and three assists throughout the month, demonstrating his importance to the Reds.

The 30-year-old winger netted twice in a dramatic 3-2 win over Sydney FC – a game in which he became United’s all-time leading goal scorer.

“I’m very happy to be awarded the PFA Player of the Month for April,” Goodwin said.

“To receive recognition from fellow players is humbling and it wouldn’t be possible without my teammates and coaching staff pushing me everyday to be better.

“As a team we’ve been performing well this past month and I hope that continues as we get stuck into our finals campaign.”

The Reds completed their regular season with a 2-1 win over Western United to secure an elimination final against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday night.

The Austraffic PFA Player of the Month is the only player-voted award in the A-Leagues. After each month of A-Leagues action, a PFA Nominations Committee, consisting of football media personalities and former players, provide nominees for the PFA membership to vote on. The awards are proudly presented in partnership with Austraffic.
