Melbourne City’s Marcus Younis has capped off a fantastic tenure on loan at the reigning A-League Men champions by being voted by his peers as the winner of the Austraffic PFA Player of the Month.
Younis received the most votes from his peers ahead of five other players nominated for the Player of the Month award, after finishing the 2025-26 A-League Men home and away season in scintillating form.
The 20-year-old attacker sparked City towards a finals berth, scoring five goals and tallying two assists during April as his side won three out of four games to lock in a spot inside the top six.
Younis joined City on loan from Danish side Brondby in January and in his 11 league matches for Aurelio Vidmar’s side had a total of 10 goal contributions.
His performances saw him coined colloquially as the ‘human highlight reel’ by commentators alike and has put himself now on the radar for a place in the Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup squad in June.
The former Western Sydney Wanderer becomes the fourth A-League Men player to receive the award this season, joining Sydney FC’s Joe Lolley, Newcastle Jets’ Eli Adams and Melbourne Victory’s Juan Mata – who won the award three times this season.
The duo will receive a specially designed ball from PFA partners at Park SCC as a result of winning the Player of the Month. Both players will be able to choose to donate 10 balls to one of three charities – Football Empowerment, KitAid Australia and Football United.
