Austraffic has reaffirmed its commitment to the PFA’s prestigious player-voted awards, extending their partnership until mid-2023.
The traffic and transport data specialists will continue to recognise player excellence domestically via the peer-votedAustraffic A-Leagues Player of the Month Award, while promoting the 2023 Austraffic PFA Players’ Awards for the first time.
With the A-Leagues season kicking off on Friday and two FIFA World Cups on the horizon, Austraffic’s Queensland Principals Caralyn and Martin Jordan-Williams said they were delighted to extend Austraffic’s partnership with the PFA at a time of opportunity for Australian football.
“Over the next 12 months Australians are going to be treated to wonderful performances from players here in the A-Leagues, our Aussie stars based overseas and our brilliant Socceroos and Matildas on the international stage.
“It’s fantastic that as a sport we will be able to celebrate the collective achievements of our clubs and national teams, but also recognise the individual accomplishments of some of Australian football’s local and global stars. It’s an honour to continue our partnership with an organisation like the PFA that helps to elevate the achievements of the players.”
PFA Co-Chief Executive Beau Busch said that in a short period of time Austraffic had become a valued partner of the PFA.
“Austraffic, led by Caralyn and Martin, are such passionate supporters of football which is demonstrated by their commitment to celebrating the players’ performances and achievements on the pitch through this partnership. We’re delighted with their ongoing support and look forward to celebrating the wonderful moments that the players will produce in the next 12 months.”
Founded in 1983, Austraffic undertakes vehicle and pedestrian data collection and analysis in all states and territories of Australia, and New Zealand and has a strong connection to Australian sport, including partnering with AFLW side Brisbane Lions.
About the Austraffic A-Leagues Player of the Month Award
Widely acknowledged as the most prestigious monthly award in Australian football, the Austraffic A-Leagues Player of the Month Award is the only peer-voted award in the A-Leagues. After each month of action in the A-League Men and Women competitions, an expert panel consisting of former players and media experts put forward nominees for the PFA membership to vote on.
About the 2023 Austraffic PFA Players’ Awards
The PFA Players’ Awards have been presented annually since 2009, when former Socceroo Tim Cahill won the inaugural PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year. The PFA Women’s Footballer of the Year was introduced the following season, which was won by Servet Uzunlar in 2010.
The 2022 winners were Socceroos Tom Rogic and Denis Genreau and Matildas Sam Kerr and Mary Fowler. The awards consider both the domestic and international features of the career path pursued by elite Australian professionals. The awards are voted on by the PFA membership and will consider the performances of PFA members during the 2022/23 season.
