Newcastle Jets’ Eli Adams and Perth Glory’s Teresa Morrissey’s brilliant starts to 2026 have been recognised by their peers, being voted by the A-Leagues playing cohort as the winners of the Austraffic PFA Player of the Month for January.

The duo received the most votes from within their peer cohort, among the six players nominated for the Player of the Month in each the A-League Men and A-League Women competitions.

Adams continued his incredible season in January for the A-League Men league leaders, helping Newcastle win each of their five games throughout the month.

The young attacker bagged two goals including a stunning free-kick on the road against Western Sydney Wanderers along with two assists during a fantastic run of form.

Adams’ and his teammates’ form have helped make Newcastle a truly ‘box office’ team this season with their stunning attacking football.

The Jets have already scored a league-high 40 goals already this campaign and sit five points clear atop the table, to go with taking home the 2025 Australia Cup and in the process, look set to end an eight-year finals drought.

Meanwhile, Morrissey has starred between the sticks for Perth in the A-League Women, establishing herself as one of the form shot-stoppers in the competition.

Morrissey secured the No.1 goalkeeper position for the Glory in December and has not looked back since, with five clean sheets to her name in ten games, which is the equal most in the entire league.

The 25-year-old also sits first in the league in goals prevented (7.1), and second in the league for save percentage (85.7%) and saves per 90 (4.8) according to FotMob.

The duo will receive a specially designed ball from PFA partners at Park SCC as a result of winning the Player of the Month. Both players will be able to choose to donate 10 balls to one of three charities – Football Empowerment, KitAid Australia and Football United.
