Bruno Fornaroli makes it back-to-back honours after the Melbourne City forward was today named the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) A-League Player of the Month for January.
Having been the recipient of the award for December, Fornaroli becomes the first player to have received the honour on two occasions after edging out Perth Glory’s Diego Castro.
Currently leading the race for the A-League golden boot on 15 goals, the Uruguayan enjoyed a stellar January, scoring three times and leading the club to two wins and a draw in four matches.
Fornaroli said he was proud to receive his second player of the month award.
“It is an honour to have become the first player to win the PFA A-League Player of the Month Award twice,” said Fornaroli.
“Recognition from your fellow players means a lot and it is very special. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me, my teammates, fans and everyone at the club for their support and I hope we can enjoy more success this season.”
PFA President Matt McKay said the City forward was again deserving of the recognition of the players.
“Throughout the history of the A-League we have been fortunate to have had some truly outstanding forwards plying their trade in the competition and Bruno has shown that he is up there with the best,” said McKay.
“His goal tally speaks for itself but his overall play and quality has been equally as impressive.”
