The outstanding form of Adelaide United’s Tarek Elrich is recognised with the defender voted as the PFA A-League Player of the Month for April.

Edging out Milos Dimitrijevic, Alex Brosque, Matthieu Delpierre and Sergio Cirio the Socceroo becomes just the sixth recipient of the PFA A-League Player of the Month award.

Voted on by all of the PFA’s A-League members the award caps a truly stellar campaign for Elrich with the former Newcastle Jets player having made his debut for the National Team, scored a contender for a goal of the season and been amongst the competitions best week-in-week-out.

Elrich said he was extremely proud to the have been named as the player of the month for April.

“It’s a massive honour to receive an award that is voted on by your peers,” said Elrich. “I have loved every minute of this season and this award tops it off.

“I have not had anything given to me easily with my previous clubs and a lot of people thought I was finished. I have been surrounded by good people here at Adelaide and I hope it continues for a long time to come.”

PFA President Matt McKay said Elrich’s performances throughout April made him the outstanding choice for player of the month.

“Tarek’s goal in the final game of the season was by anyone’s standards world class but what really stands out is the extremely high level he has been playing at every week,” said McKay.

“He has been instrumental in Adelaide’s brilliant season to date and I have little doubt that he will continue to be invaluable in their pursuit of the Championship.”
