Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce the PFA A-League Player of the Month Nominees for December.
Including A-League rounds 9 to 12 the four shortlisted players will now be voted on by the PFA’s A-League based members.
Vying to become just the third recipient of the player voted award, the nominees are:
- Andy Keogh, Perth Glory;
- Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Melbourne Victory;
- Roy Krishna, Wellington Phoenix; and
- Aaron Mooy, Melbourne City.
Keogh’s selection sees the Ireland International become the first player to twice be nominated for the award having been shortlisted for October, with the striker continuing to star for the table topping Glory.
With his Phoenix teammate Nathan Burns having been awarded Player of the Month for November, Roy Krishna’s nomination comes on the back of a stellar December with the Fiji International scoring the winner against the Western Sydney Wanderers and ensuring a point against the Central Coast Mariners.
Aaron Mooy’s nomination sees him become the first Melbourne City player shortlisted for the award. The midfielder was in outstanding form for City during December, scoring twice and playing a leading role in the club picking up seven points.
Having lit up the A-League with his technique and game awareness Fahid Ben Khlafallah’s performances ensured his selection amongst the nominees. The Tunisia International was instrumental for the Victory in their two wins for the month.
PFA President Matt McKay hailed the nominees and said the players represented another stellar cast.
“During December we were fortunate to witness some truly outstanding football and these four players played a huge part in this,” said the Socceroos midfielder.
“Aaron, Roy, Ben and Andy are all more than worthy recipients of the award and the players once again face a very difficult task in determining the winner.”
